My Wella World: Brilliance Coarse Hair Shampoo & Conditioner | Wella Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray | Wella Stay Essential Finishing Spray

As a girl that colors & styles her hair constantly, it is so important to have affordable, reliable products that strengthen my hair but doesn't break the bank. My prayers were answered, as I have fallen head over heels in hair love with Wella. I was recently introduced to Wella Hair Care behind the scenes at Boston Fashion Week, as the Wella Team were the hairstylists for every fashion show & perfecting braids, buns, & everything in between.

Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist, Andy LeCompte, believes a timeless, weather-proof bun compliments any look - I couldn't agree more! I have never used a doughnut (or a sock!) & wanted to share with you how I master my version of the top bun in less than 30 seconds, with my new favorite Wella products.

After blow-drying my hair straight, I gather my hair into a high ponytail, then follow the steps pictured above:
  1. Divide the pony tail into two equal sections, & wrap 1 section clockwise around the elastic.
  2. Follow the same path with the 2nd section.
  3. Secure with bobby pins, seal with hairspray, & voilĂ .
Lucky you gets to win all four of the products listed above!

among the tombs

Wearing: Free People Skirt | H&M Tank & Scarf | UO Bracelet

New England in the fall equals pure perfection. I spent an entire afternoon driving around the city photographing the foliage before the leaves turn, & found that the local cemeteries housed the prettiest views. Creepy? Sure, if you're 5 years old & scared of ghosts. I found it peaceful.. almost magical.

Just a girl in a maxi, chillin' on tomb stones & playing in the leaves.

red accents

Wearing: c/o Sugarlips Dress | c/o Rebecca Minkoff Mac Daddy | Nine West Heels | Kate Spade Gramercy Watch | House of Harlow Sunnies

The best thing about the essential little black dress is that it's easy & can be worn anywhere - from work to a date to a wedding. I love this Sugarlips number because the ruching is flattering, the length is just right, & with a black palette, I can add color elsewhere - a touch of red: lips, nails, & a statement bag.

Last week I spilled coffee on this gorgeous RM Mac Daddy, & literally cried. It was as if the coffee intentionally flew out of my cup & wanted nothing more than to stain my brand new bag to ruin my morning & make me late for work. Say what, $60 to dry clean a leather bag? Then I cried some more. Lesson learned, don't drink coffee in close proximity of anything pretty, leather or not.

Hope you all had a great weekend, & be sure to enter my Julep giveaway here - 3 days left!

seasons change

As much as I love fashion, clothes, & accessories, it's not all that I photograph, believe it or not! I have plenty of pictures that I never share, because I try so hard not to overstep the "fashion blog" boundaries. I love photography just as much as I love fashion, & originally started a photography blog, long before I started Allie Wears. I think it's important to connect with you beyond what I'm wearing, & share things that I love, admire, experience, & photograph!

By the time I leave work, it's dark outside (boooo..) - so, finding time for continuous style posts is becoming a pain in the neck. I am hoping this little glimpse into my life will interest you enough to keep reading, & will push me to continue my passion, of both blogging & photography.
  1. CatBird, how I love you. Check Urban Outfitter's sale racks for this cute lace number!
  2. Lights stream overhead in spooky Salem, MA.
  3. Backstage at Boston Fashion Week, seeing the Wella hair stylists at work - braids & all!
  4. Finally crossed apple picking off my autumn bucket list. But, is it really considered apple picking if you buy a bag at the farmer's stand without stepping foot into the orchard? Meh.
P.S. One week left to enter the Julep Maven box giveaway here!

birds of a feather

Wearing: Nicole Richie for Macy's Dress | c/o W118 by Walter Baker Tote | Nine West Naso Booties | House of Harlow Sunnies | CatBird Arrow Ring & Knuckle Ring

Finally, tights & dresses - my favorite combo for the colder weather! I snagged this cute printed Nicole Richie dress this weekend, & fell in love with the array of colors, the peacock print, the sheer sleeves, the lace detailing, & everything in between. My only complaint? That it's too long.. ha! The shorter the better in my book, especially if you are rocking opaque tights.

I've received a lot of questions about my hair, on how to perfect loose curls, & the top bun - without a doughnut, gasp! To dress up my ponytail, I wrapped a piece of hair around the elastic, securing it with bobby pins. It's a fun touch to dress up yet another plain pony. Keep an eye out for a hair tutorial coming soon, paired with an awesome giveaway featuring my favorite products from Wella!
