big bean

Having a bad hair day? Beanie.Wearing a simple outfit? Beanie. Currently, a beanie is my answer to everything. They're effortless, easy, but fun.

In September, my dad dragged me to the Peabody Essex Museum, where there was a Hats exhibit featuring hundreds of creative hats - this being my favorite, obviously. I walked out remembering one quote from Christian Lacroix: "A hat is the dot on the i." Hats are the punctuation of fashion - the exclamation point

Dot your i with these cute beanies for only $7, $16, or $125.

grateful

If I was to sum up November in one word, it would be grateful. Grateful for many things, dirty martini's & high heel stilettos included, but also for the macho men who rock dirty mustaches in honor of Movember - a month dedicated to raising awareness for men's health. This 'stache of a ring is dedicated to them, & the extra dirty I am about consume with my second piece of pie.

Happy Thanksgiving, ya'll!

cat lady

Cat lady, a title I'd like to receive.. never. But, there are satin cats - on my shirt! I am shamefully going to admit this was my first attempt at wearing the peplum trend. I have tried on countless peplum tops & dresses, but always felt they didn't compliment my body type. Throw satin cats on it though, & I'm sold. This outfit came together as I scoured the Impulse racks at Macy's - desperate to find something fun, young, & muted to compliment the colder weather.

So, if you're a girl on a budget (like moi) I highly suggest checking out GoJane for shoes. I find cute platforms that replicate many expensive styles you see online for a killer price. I also BEG you to check out the Impulse section of Macy's. You can find designer duds on major sale, including some of my favorites, Rachel Rachel Roy & Bar III. Pair it with a Macy's coupon, & you save yourself plenty of cash.

Oh, yeah. Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for.. you, this blog, & cats.

trash to treasure

Allie buys Armani? No. Hell no. But, I do buy Armani when it is $5 at a local thrift store. Right?! I died & went to heaven when I heard that my own mother not only found these Armani booties gracing the racks of Global Thrift, but instantly thought of me when she did see them! Soft leather in great condition, with an insanely high heel & the perfect pointed toe.. can't get much better.

Now, whoever considers Armani trash needs a reality check, but I guess they're right when they say one man's trash is another man's treasure! Happy Monday!

I don't use Pinterest. There! I said it.

I mean.. I do sometimes, but only to find a killer cupcake recipe so I can feed my unhealthy addiction to baking. I am not as remotely obsessed with it like my mother who pins as soon as her head is off the pillow at 6 AM or my roommate who I have nicknamed the Pinterest Queen. But, one day, I came across this picture & I racked my closet that is internally imprinted into my brain & pulled together a look quite similar - neon, boyfriend, & black. It's that easy.

too many boyfriends

Don't you wish that was socially acceptable? Too many boyfriends.. girl could get used to that. I've been slightly obsessed with boyfriend jeans lately - upgrading to these, most recently. In high-school I never wore jeans, ever. As soon as they stretched out my day was ruined, or so I thought. Since then, the jean has evolved into a comfortable staple - available in every color of the rainbow & every pattern found in my grandmother's house.

Point is, I love boyfriend jeans because my day is never ruined.

fp fiesta

Wearing: c/o Free People Native Rose Top | BLANK Jeans | Zara Booties | c/o RM BF Cross Body

Once I spotted this embroidered lace crop top from PB & J Boutique, I had to have it! It instantly reminded me of a Mexican fiesta.. weird, but true. With so much going on in the top itself, I seriously struggled with what to pair it with - wide legs? a dark skinny jean? Even a leather skirt crossed my mind.

Then, I came across these rust colored BLANK jeans & knew they'd be the perfect pairing with this Free People beauty. Not to mention, I found them at.. ahem, Goodwill. That's right - for only $5.99 they willingly joined my closet & I didn't put up a fight. Which pushes me to admit that when I am bored & on my lunch break I may or may not casually stroll the aisles of Goodwill, fingers crossed that a Missoni tweed mini skirt jumps off the racks & into my arms (which has happened, believe it or not!)

Lesson learned, anything can be worn with a pair of dark skinny jeans. But it's a lot more fun when you add a bit of rust to a plethora of velvet embroidered lace. Bam.
